Criminalization of People Who Have Abortions Amicus Brief in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health
Brief filed at the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the Center's challenge to Mississippi's pre-viability abortion ban.
Amici are researchers, healthcare professionals, attorneys, and advocates for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice united in opposition to the criminalization of people who end their own pregnancies or experience pregnancy loss.
The brief argues that the Mississippi ban would exacerbate the risk that people be criminalized for self-managing abortions. Criminalization of people who end their pregnancies irrevocably harms their health and wellbeing and violates their human rights.
If/When/How Lawyering for Reproductive Justice is counsel.
This brief was one of over 50 amicus briefs filed supporting this Supreme Court case, which challenges Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban. For more information on the case, go to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
