Center for Reproductive Rights Statement on Violence Against Colorado Planned Parenthood

Below is a statement released this morning from Center for Reproductive Rights President and CEO Nancy Northup regarding yesterday’s violent attack on a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. 

“We mourn the lives lost yesterday in the violence at the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs and offer our condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. We are grateful for the brave dedication of responding police officers. 

“The violence is unconscionable. It’s long past time that opponents of women’s right to access safe and legal abortion stop creating a hostile climate with overheated rhetoric. We stand with all who continue to provide essential women’s reproductive health care in spite of the great risks that they face, and deplore all acts of violence, literal and rhetorical, against them.”
