Center for Reproductive Rights Statement on the Confirmation of Tom Price for Secretary of Health and Human Services
“Tom Price has a dangerous record of attacking women’s health care and we are deeply troubled by his confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” said Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights.
“Price is openly hostile to reproductive rights and clearly out of touch with the reality of women’s lives. He has vowed to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and to eliminate the contraceptive coverage benefit which has helped millions of low-income women access birth control and other essential preventative services. He has also routinely voted to restrict access to safe, legal abortion, to defund Planned Parenthood and to allow employers to discriminate against employees based on their personal reproductive health decisions
“His extreme views on reproductive health care and on a woman’s right to get safe, legal abortion have no place in a department dedicated to protecting the health of all Americans. The Center for Reproductive Rights will continue to fight to ensure all women get the health care services they need free from political interference.”
