Center for Reproductive Rights Statement on Congressional Proposal to Repeal the Affordable Care Act
“Repealing the Affordable Care Act would decimate access to health care for millions of people and unravel one of the greatest advancements for women’s health” said Nancy Northup, President and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights. “This latest proposal targets women’s access to reproductive health care, including preventive care, maternity care, and abortion services.
“Far too many women worry whether they have enough money to get the health care they need, and for low-income women and women of color, that barrier to care can be even more severe. It’s cynical and cruel that politicians are covertly working to further push safe and legal abortion and other essential reproductive health care services out of reach for millions more women. The Center for Reproductive Rights strongly opposes this attempt to defund Planned Parenthood and deny insurance coverage of abortion care, and we will continue work to ensure all women can get the health care they need free from political interference.”
