Center for Reproductive Rights President & CEO Nancy Northup: Statement on HHS Secretary Price’s Resignation
Today, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Tom Price – who packed the agency with anti-abortion extremists to chip away at women’s healthcare rights and access from within – resigned from his post amidst a controversy involving the improper use of taxpayer dollars.
Said Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights:
“Under Secretary Price, the Department of Health and Human Services has repeatedly undermined women’s health by slashing widely supported programs like the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, working to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and advocating for a rule to take away contraceptive coverage for hundreds of thousands of women.
“President Trump has an obligation and an opportunity to choose an appointee committed to upholding the rule of law and promoting and protecting women’s health care.”
