Blunt Amendment Would Eviscerate Health Care Coverage for Millions
Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) is attempting to add an amendment to a highway bill that would allow any employer to refuse to cover a health care service required under the Affordable Care Act if the employer objects to the health care service on religious or moral grounds. It even goes so far as to allow an employer to refuse coverage if just one employee objects to it. Senator Blunt and his allies believe that the conscience rights of an employer are more important than an employee’s individual right to decide whether to use health care services. Allowing someone’s boss to pick and choose the health care someone gets is offensive and dangerous.
