Beyond Roe: Reproductive Justice in a Changing World
On October 11, 2013, the Center will co-sponsor “Beyond Roe: Reproductive Justice in a Changing World” at Rutgers School of Law – Camden. This day-long event will use the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade as a point of departure for bringing together scholars, activists, and practitioners to discuss a wide range of issues related to reproductive justice and reproductive oppression. The conference deliberately focuses on justice rather than rights to signal a commitment to discussing the regulation of reproduction in all the forms that such regulation takes. Panel speakers will address topics including faith and reproduction, women’s equality, abortion regulation, justice in child birth and many others. Byllye Avery, founder of the Black Women’s Health Imperative (formerly the National Black Women’s Health Project), will deliver the keynote speech.
