Anti-choice License Plate Suspended
A federal court halted North Carolina’s offering of an anti-choice license plate to state drivers, according to a story in the Fayetteville Observer:
“This court concludes … that the state’s offering of a Choose Life license plate in the absence of a pro-choice plate constitutes viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment,” Judge James Fox said in his ruling, issued Friday.
Not only would the plates send an anti-choice message, they also help fund anti-choice activists. The plates cost $25, with $15 of that going to crisis pregnancy centers. These centers often use deceitful marketing practices, luring women by suggesting that they offer medical services and consulting when in fact they deliver an anti-choice message.
