The Sarah Weddington Prize for New Student Scholarship in Reproductive Rights, 2011: And the winner is – Allison Hartry! A 2L at UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, Allison’s paper “Birthright Justice: Birthright Citizenship and Reproductive Justice in Immigration Detention Centers,” is a highly topical essay that aptly embodies this year’s theme, Beyond the Books: Realizing Reproductive Rights in Real Lives. Allison’s essay will be published in NYU’s Review of Law and Social Change.
The Sarah Weddington Prize for New Student Scholarship in Reproductive Rights is an annual writing competition co-sponsored by the Center and Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ). The winning submission is focused on the recognition of reproductive rights as human rights that must be promoted and protected. Papers may be domestic or international in scope, and may draw on international, domestic and comparative law.
