Dr. Brian Christine assumed office on November 11, 2025.

As Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH), Dr. Christine serves as the primary advisor to the Secretary on matters involving the nation’s public health and is responsible for the Department’s strategic and policy direction. OASH oversees the Office of Population Affairs, which runs the Title X program for domestic reproductive health services, as well as the Office of the Surgeon General, Office on Women’s Health, and Office of Minority Health, in addition to others.

Dr. Christine opposed a policy that made it easier for servicemembers to access abortion care and said he doesn’t want his tax dollars used to “promote access to abortion.”
While appearing on a podcast, Dr. Christine called Roe v. Wade a “bad decision” and said he was a “pro-life candidate.”
Dr. Christine expressed support for a “crisis pregnancy center” (CPC) in Alabama and called it “a model for a post-Roe world.” CPCs are anti-abortion fake clinics that try to block patients from accessing abortion services.
Dr. Christine routinely makes inflammatory comments about transgender individuals.

Extremist Connections

While running for Alabama State Senate, Dr. Christine was endorsed by Matt Whitaker who serves on the board of the anti-abortion legal group, America First Legal. Whitaker said that Dr. Christine was “absolutely pro-life at all stages”.
