Accountability for the Post-2015 Agenda: A Proposal for a Robust Global Review Mechanism
Accountability for commitments that States make in the Post-2015 Agenda–a new global development program being crafted at the United Nations–will be essential to ensuring that its programs succeed in lifting billions out of poverty and deprivation, while realizing their human rights, protecting our environment and creating a more just and equitable world.
With the importance of accountability in mind, the Center for Reproductive Rights–in conjunction with the Center for Economic and Social Rights, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch–have developed a proposal for a global review mechanism that will monitor implementation of the Post-2015 Agenda. This proposal, based on our experiences working in the international human rights system, provides guidance on how to ensure accountability for development commitments, including by encouraging the robust participation of civil society organizations.
