Abortion Providers Sue Oklahoma Over Abortion Bans
Multiple sources reported on the Center’s challenge to Oklahoma’s recently passed abortion bans. One measure would make abortion a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or an extreme fine, and the other copycats Texas’s vigilante abortion ban.
The Texas Signal quoted Center president and CEO Nancy Northup on the Center’s challenge: “We are asking the state courts to uphold the state constitution and apply Oklahoma precedent to block these insidious abortion bans before they take effect.”
CBS interviewed Center senior staff attorney Rabbia Muqaddam, who stated, “It’s a short-term loss, but we’re hopeful that the Oklahoma Supreme Court will still grant us relief.”
