Two executives from the Center for Reproductive Rights will speak at the 2021 EU-NGO Human Rights Forum, a virtual global event being held December 7-8 to discuss European Union policies to support a human rights-based recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s theme is “Rebuilding Better: A human rights-based recovery from the pandemic.”

The Forum—which presents opportunities to strengthen international multi-stakeholder networks, in particular for human rights defenders—is free and open to the public. (Click here for registration information.)

The Center’s Enid Muthoni Ndiga, Senior Vice President, Global Legal Program, will speak on a panel on December 8 titled “Access to Health: Health Inequity Exacerbated by COVID-19 —What Response is Required to Leave No One Behind?” She’ll discuss health inequities, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and how the European Union can support SRHR around the world.

In addition, the Center’s Associate Director for Europe, Katrine Thomasen, will moderate a panel on December 7 titled “Health Rights: Deep-dive —The Barriers to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Universal Health Coverage.” The panel will cover the ways the COVID-19 pandemic has created and exacerbated existing barriers to SRHR access, and panelists will discuss how the EU can facilitate greater SRHR access and universal health coverage through a human rights-based perspective.

The Center continues to advocate for human rights around the world and access to reproductive health services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
