2012 Year-End Report

Every year, the Center for Reproductive Rights tracks hundreds of legislative measures proposed by anti-choice state legislators who intend to erode
women’s rights to abortion and reproductive health care. In 2012, pro-choice advocates and legislators went into 2012 more determined than ever to stop harmful legislation from becoming law—after an intense onslaught of
anti-choice legislation the year prior. Citizens, advocates, and many stalwart legislators throughout the country have fought back, standing up for women
and their access to reproductive health care. Although anti-choice legislators and activists introduced hundreds of restrictive bills, as they do every
year, fewer passed in 2012 than in 2011, and, as usual, most were rejected. Nonetheless, over 40 pieces of anti-woman, anti-abortion,
anti-contraception legislation became law.
