Women exploring the use of contraceptives are often faced with misleading information about their safety and effectiveness, as well as women's right to access them. This misinformation can prevent women from realizing their reproductive rights, including the right to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children, the right to receive and impart the information and means to, the right to attain the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health, and the right to make decisions concerning reproduction free of discrimination, coercion, and violence. This factsheet sets the record straight on oral contraceptives and governments\' obligation to provide family planning services.
